Public WiFi in our towns and cities has become normal. But do you know anything about the public WiFi you’re using? Is it safe? Do you imagine it’s impossible for you or your family to stumble across inappropriate or even illegal content using public WiFi?
Can you be certain others in your environment are not using the same WiFi as you to access materials that might make you feel uncomfortable?
Where there is no filtering certification, there can be no certainty.
Only when you see the Friendly WiFi symbol can you know for sure that the WiFi provided has been independently checked and approved to ensure it blocks inappropriate material.
If you don’t see the sign, feel free to encourage the venue management to become part of the journey towards protecting children and young adults online.
