Supporting Safer Internet Day 2026: Helping Keep Children and Young People Safe Online

Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 10 February 2026 marks Safer Internet Day, a nationwide campaign that brings together schools, families, organisations, and communities to promote a safer and more positive online world for children and young people.

At Friendly WiFi, we are proud to be a registered supporter of Safer Internet Day and to play our part in raising awareness of the importance of online safety across public spaces.

Why Safer Internet Day matters

Safer Internet Day is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and start conversations about how young people use the internet — what they enjoy, the challenges they face, and how we can better support them to stay safe and confident online.

For 2026, the theme focuses on “Smart tech, safe choices – exploring the safe and responsible use of AI”, highlighting the growing role technology plays in everyday life and the shared responsibility we all have in helping young people navigate the digital world safely.

How Friendly WiFi supports safer online experiences

The work behind Safer Internet Day closely aligns with what we do year-round. Friendly WiFi exists to help protect children, families, and visitors in public spaces by promoting appropriate online safeguards on public WiFi networks.

By encouraging responsible digital practices and visible reassurance that protections are in place, we support environments where children and young people can access the internet more safely — whether that’s in cafés, transport hubs, leisure venues, or other public locations.

How we’re marking Safer Internet Day 2026

To support this year’s campaign, we will be:

  • Sharing Safer Internet Day messages and resources across our website and social media channels

  • Helping raise awareness of the day and its 2026 theme

  • Encouraging conversations about online safety, digital wellbeing, and responsible technology use

We’re also using official campaign assets to help amplify the message and ensure consistent, trusted information reaches as many people as possible.

Get involved

Everyone has a role to play in creating a safer internet. Whether it’s starting a conversation, sharing trusted resources, or learning more about online safety, small actions can make a meaningful difference.

You can find free advice, resources, and ways to get involved at www.saferinternetday.org.uk

Together, we can help create a safer, more positive online world for children and young people — on Safer Internet Day and beyond.
