The Courtauld Institute of Art Achieves Friendly WiFi Certification

The Courtauld

We’re delighted to announce that The Courtauld Institute of Art is now officially Friendly WiFi certified.

As one of the world’s leading institutions for the study of art history, conservation, and curating, The Courtauld’s commitment to safeguarding students, staff, and visitors extends beyond its galleries and lecture theatres. With this certification, it is ensuring that its public WiFi service meets the government-initiated minimum filtering standards, protecting users—particularly young people—from exposure to inappropriate online content.

This is a key milestone for higher education venues, and we hope it sets a strong example for other institutions across the sector. Providing safe, filtered connectivity on campus supports digital wellbeing and enhances trust in digital services provided to students and the wider community.

Bev Smith, Director of Friendly WiFi, commented:“We’re thrilled to welcome The Courtauld as a certified venue. Their commitment to online safety and digital responsibility highlights the importance of this standard in higher education. We hope their leadership inspires other universities and institutions to follow suit.”

We’re proud to work with The Courtauld and look forward to supporting more educational venues in achieving this important standard.
